Hadar and Itay Berdichesky

Hadar and Itay Berdichesky were 30 and lived at Kibbutz Kfar Aza with their twin sons. On October 7, 2023 both parents were killed in the attack on the kibbutz. The twins, then 10 months old, survived. This page is about Hadar and Itay. The ages here are the ages reported for that day, not ages today.

The Times of Israel reported that the parents were killed while trying to protect the babies, who had been hidden in the home’s reinforced room and were later found alive. Hadar’s brother Inbar Rosenfeld told the paper that the family’s last message from Hadar was a joke about being stuck in the shelter with the twins after the sirens, and that the twins were alone for more than 12 hours without food before relatives took them in.

Another brother, Dvir Rosenfeld, told CBS News that he believes Hadar was killed after leaving the shelter to fetch bottles. He said she was found in the kitchen and that Itay was found between the babies’ beds. Neighbors heard the twins crying for about 14 hours. Dvir said people nearby could not cross to the apartment while attackers were still outside. CBS News reported the twins’ names as Roi and Guy.

Dalia Messinger, who describes herself and Dafna as cousins, organized the GoFundMe campaign. It says the children were in the care of their grandmother and other relatives and that every donation was intended for a trustee, to be saved for the twins as a savings account or trust. On October 11, 2026 that campaign still showed a donate link. A separate campaign for the same family was not accepting donations and is not linked here. Public reports use several spellings of the surname. This page keeps the spelling on Dalia Messinger’s campaign.
