Lee Sasi

Lee Sasi is an American from Los Angeles. On October 7, 2023 she was at the Nova music festival in southern Israel with her uncle and friends. The campaign opened for her that December says the group had been dancing when what first looked like fireworks turned out to be rockets. They fled toward a concrete public shelter that had no door.

In a CNN interview broadcast on October 11, 2023, Lee said about 35 to 40 people crowded into the shelter. She said that when rescuers arrived about seven hours later, only about nine or ten of them were alive. She described hiding beneath people who had been killed as grenades, rifle fire, and an RPG struck the shelter. The campaign adds that a friend, Alex, was at the entrance when the shooting began, and that her uncle was killed in front of her while shielding her.

The same appeal says seven members of Lee’s family were at Nova with her and that four of them were killed, among them her pregnant cousin Nitzan and Nitzan’s boyfriend. Lee returned to Los Angeles. When the campaign was written, it said she was 25, that she could not hear well after the blasts, and that she did not yet feel able to go back to work. Those statements describe late 2023, not a later checkup.

Michelle Hellman organized the fundraiser on Lee’s behalf and named Lee as the beneficiary. The page also credits Jenny Mollen, Allison Schlanger, and Gillian Laub with helping to organize it. The fundraiser was created to support trauma care, mental health treatment, and living expenses. On October 11, 2026 the campaign still showed a donate link.
